The humanities offer us
a perspective we didn't consider,
a path we dared not follow,
a voice we did not yet hear.
—Dr. Shelly C. Lowe
Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities
Recognized nationally for
leadership in the Humanities
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent
federal agency and one of the largest funders of humanities programs
in the country, serving and strengthening our republic by promoting
excellence in the humanities and conveying the lessons of history
to all Americans.
Since 1965, NEH has awarded over $6 billion to support museums,
historic sites, universities, teachers, libraries, documentary filmmakers,
public TV and radio stations, research institutions, scholars, and
Indigenous communities.
The Minnesota Humanities
Center is one of 56 federally
recognized humanities
councils and the proud
recipient of many NEH grants.
These funds open new worlds of
learning for many Minnesotans
statewide.
