MHC’s annual event, the Passport to the
Humanities Showcase, gave attendees an
opportunity to see some of MHC’s grantees
share their stories through spoken word,
dance, music, poetry, conversational narrative,
improvisational comedy, and more.
MHC has had a profound impact on our
community by giving our students, staff and
community more opportunities to engage in
and address social issues. We hope that MHC
w
continues to provide a space for dialogue,
creativity, and collaboration.
Before the Showcase, we celebrated the
first 10 years of MHC's programs with Veterans.
Past Veterans Award honorees and program
participants enjoyed a powerful video
highlighting the breadth and depth of our
Veterans programming and were treated to
remarks from Miki Huntington, past Veteran's
Voices Award winner, about how MHC’s
mission aligns with Veteran-focused causes.

Programming such as Veteran's Voices, Increase
Engagement Through Absent Narratives, and
Examining Military Service from the Margins, have
allowed me to share my own experiences to help
strengthen civil-military understanding. Through
the humanities, we can promote dialogue, thoughtful
reflection, cultural awareness, and compassion with
different mediums. By creating spaces for dialogue,
we can expand our own perspective while also
learning from, and with, the community.
