fy24 annual report - Flipbook - Page 30
When Indigenous Nations Poets (In-Na-Po) held our annual retreat at
the Minnesota Humanities Center in June 2024, we felt truly cared for
by the entire staff. The facility and the grounds were lovely, all details
of our week-long visit were carefully planned with us in advance, the
set-up for our public event was customized to our needs, and the food
provided made us want to return! We received advice and support
even for elements of our retreat not directly connected to MHC and
everything down to the table decorations were put in place with our
particular organization in mind. Our Indigenous Fellows, Faculty,
Staff, and Visiting Writers all received VIP treatment. With our physical
needs so well attended to, we were free to concentrate on our retreat
programming and on building community. In-Na-Po remains grateful
for all MHC did to help us build this time and space for gathering.

We gather to learn, teach, share a
meal, dream, sing, laugh, and weep.
Where we choose to come together
with open hearts and minds is critical
in the gift that is storytelling.
The Minnesota Humanities Event Center provides more than four walls;
our space is an incubator for ideas, healing, and change.
Since 1996, MHC has occupied a restored architectural landmark that not
only serves as our home but also doubles as a full-service Event Center.
Offering flexible meeting spaces, kitchen, onsite catering, and 15 overnight
guest rooms, we host educational community events that complement
our work and reinforce MHC’s mission as a place where people convene,
strengthen connections, and participate in meaningful dialogue.
