This initiative linked the history of African
American-led labor struggles to today’s
fight for economic empowerment and
depicted this connection and understanding through story circles and a gallery of
videos, photos, oral history recordings,
and paintings.
White Earth Land Recovery Project
Cultural Heritage Grant
These funds helped preserve and celebrate
Anishinaabe art and culture, with workshops for the community on the Hand
Drum, Moccasin, Bandolier Bag, Ribbon
Skirt Powwow Belt, Men and Boys’ Roach,
Jingle Dress Making, Natural Medicines,
Medicine Bags, Beading a Daisy Chain,
Women’s Bear Bundle, and Dreamcatchers.

Children’s Museums Grant
Funding supported a project that
highlighted the art, culture, and heritage
of North Central Minnesota from the
perspectives of Leech Lake Band of
Ojibwe children.
Ying Li | Cultural Heritage Grant
Dancer Ying Li introduced the rich history of Chinese dance and music to communities
throughout the Twin Cities and Rochester, fostering appreciation and understanding for
these ancient art forms through classes and collaboration with artists.
